Our Projects
Whose Land? brings community leaders, students, and scholars together to investigate the history and legacies of settlement, land dispossession and displacement in Wisconsin and New York. An outgrowth of nearly ten years of collecting and sharing stories about food, farming and land in Wisconsin, we are now partnering with groups in New York to explore east-midwest connections.
The Whose Land? Podcast
Upcoming Project
The Podcast is a wide-ranging and multi-year project that dives into the connection between race, land, and place through the historical Wisconsin-New York connection. Working with partners in rural areas, native lands, and city centers, founder James Levy tells the story of this connection, what it teaches us, and how we should move forward. You can expect the pilot season of this ground-breaking podcast to be released at the end of 2023.

The workshops give any group of people the opportunity to learn about public history. We walk groups through topics such as how to conduct oral histories, how to participate in community memory mapping, how to create your own community archive, etc. These workshops give groups of people the tools to further their own knowledge while starting/ participating in a community history project.
