Today we launch our December Giving Campaign. This year and next we are striving to build a sustainable foundation to support our mission. At the core of that mission is our commitment to connecting people across cultural, regional, and class lines. That includes sharing resources. We devote a significant portion of each project’s funds to our partners. Over half of the grant funds awarded to us this year went directly to our partners for digital equipment, software, paid student internships, and elder/teen gatherings. Our new People’s 250th initiative will provide a broader opportunity to practice this ethos and support our partners most in need. Funds raised for the initiative will help students at K-12 schools, Tribal Nations, and local neighborhood groups integrate their histories into a national collection which tells a bottom-up version of our national story. This will culminate in 2026 on the occasion of the nation’s semiquincentennial. The success of this project will not only bring stories to the fore that are often left out of mainstream narratives, but will allow groups, large and small, to connect with each other, engage in dialogue, and share resources to support their respective missions. The 250th project will be a launching pad for our work for years to come. Your support today will help us sustain our work well into the future.
